TikTok’s Bellevue headquarters wanted a second mural that would connect its digital innovation with the natural wonder of the Pacific Northwest, while reflecting its brand pillar: “Be courageous and aim for the highest.” The intention was to create an immersive visual story that captured the excitement of bold storytelling and the platform’s global reach.
My Role
As the Creative Custom Designer and Mural Artist, I was commissioned to conceptualize and paint a site-specific, on-brand mural. Working closely with Gensler (interior design), JTM (architecture), and TikTok’s internal brand team, I had to interpret their creative deck, specs, and brand identity to design a vibrant, original piece that aligned with the theme—all within a tight turnaround.
My process
Designed a visual narrative starting with a TikTok U.S. employee immersed in building the digital framework, representing the behind-the-scenes creators of the platform.
Let the scene flow into the Pacific Northwest waters, showing a kayaker livestreaming whales breaching—a metaphor for bold, real-time storytelling.
Built out an imaginative underwater world filled with jellyfish, seals, and marine life, where a couple floats on a jellyfish snapping a selfie.
Wove in playful, diverse figures to represent the global TikTok community and the joy of creativity.
Integrated the TikTok logo seamlessly into the environment, reinforcing brand presence and message.
Hand-painted the mural onsite, ensuring the piece elevated the space and complemented the overall design vision.

Result
The final mural became a signature feature of the Bellevue office, fusing local identity with global brand values. It energized the workspace, inspired curiosity, and visually reinforced TikTok’s bold, creative culture. Delivered on a fast-tracked timeline, the mural is a testament to the power of collaboration, storytelling, and place-based design.
