W Seattle hotel

Seattle, WA

The W Seattle Hotel welcomed me as their artist in residence, an opportunity that has allowed me to shape the hotel's aesthetic and enhance the guest experience through an array of custom-designed mural projects.

During this ongoing residency, I've undertaken a remarkable journey of transformation within the hotel, leaving an indelible mark on its spaces. Some of the standout projects include the revival of Trace Market, the refreshing Watering Station, the vibrant Valet Garage, and the captivating Faces installation. Each mural project was meticulously crafted to breathe new life into these areas, creating visually arresting focal points that have redefined the guest experience.

The impact of these murals extends far beyond the walls of the W Seattle Hotel. Thousands of guests and visitors have been inspired to take photos in front of these captivating artworks, sharing their experiences on social media platforms. The hotel's vibrant Instagram-worthy spaces have become a magnet for travelers and art enthusiasts alike, sparking conversations, igniting creativity, and leaving a lasting impression in the digital realm.

My collaboration with the W Hotel leadership team continues on a monthly basis, ensuring that the hotel remains a dynamic canvas of creativity. Together, we consistently embark on new projects, further enhancing the ambiance and atmosphere of this iconic Seattle destination.

about the mural

In the left section of the mural, the eye falls first on a culturally ambiguous, edgy and stylish female, inviting people along on her journey with an outstretched arm.

Her friend is snapping a Fujifilm shot to capture her Seattle experience. The right side of the composition shows a singer hitting a high note, looming above her a south-facing cityscape of Seattle with its pocket neighborhoods and iconic places.

Next is more diversity and fashion between two men in the foreground, a nod to LGBTQIA culture, plus the Pacific Northwest’s popular foods. Color-popping favorite area flowers such as peonies, sunflowers, magnolia, roses, and dahlias anchor the entire mural.

Her name is Ember

At the heart of W Seattle Hotel, a vision was born to craft an unforgettable welcome experience for every guest. We conceived the idea of a captivating, edgy, and charismatic embodiment of female energy, someone who would make a profound connection with guests the moment they arrived – Ember.

Ember, with her fiery grace, captivates all who cross her path. Whether guests drive into the valet or stroll in from the streets, her magnetic presence draws them in. She has become an Instagram sensation, as guests can't resist capturing selfies and videos with her. Social media is abuzz with declarations of love for Ember, making her an enduring icon of W Seattle Hotel's warm embrace.

Faces at the W Seattle

Discover the artistry that adorns the 14th floor of our hotel, where every guest room has been transformed into a canvas for original hand-painted murals, all crafted by me. No two rooms are alike; each boasts a distinct portrait representing the vibrant culture of Seattle.

Within each mural, a personalized story unfolds, offering a glimpse into the heart of Seattle's natives. These portraits celebrate the activities they cherish, the neighborhoods they call home, the hidden gems they adore, and the rich diversity that defines the city. Faces, as we aptly named it, goes beyond art; it's a tribute to community, an invitation to explore, and a spark of wanderlust for our guests in the city we hold dear.
